review a short story "a new england nun"

Hi guys, back again on my blog, this time I will review 2 short stories. The first story is entitle :

"A New England Nun" by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman is a short story that delves into the life of Louisa Ellis, a woman who has been engaged to Joe Dagget for fifteen years. During his long absence, Louisa has cultivated a simple, orderly, and solitary existence. She finds contentment in her routine, her spotless house, and her faithful dog, Caesar.

When Joe returns to town, Louisa is torn between her sense of duty and her newfound independence. Joe is a rugged, simple man whose presence disrupts her carefully cultivated world. Louisa grapples with the idea of marrying him out of obligation, but she has grown used to her solitary life.

Ultimately, Louisa chooses to uphold her independence and break off her engagement with Joe. She decides to embrace her single life, effectively becoming a "New England nun," symbolizing her self-imposed solitude.

The story explores themes of individualism, the constraints of societal expectations, and the pursuit of personal happiness. Louisa's decision to prioritize her own contentment over societal norms highlights the importance of personal freedom and fulfillment. "A New England Nun" offers a glimpse into the complexities of duty, love, and the choices people make to preserve their sense of self.

I think that's enough, thank you for reading my short story review, I hope you enjoy it and see you again on my next blog, bye bye
